Experience True Relaxation

Stress is an integral part of one’s life. It is one of the forces that move us around. Stress is usually classified into two – Eustress and Distress. Eustress (true stress) allows us to perform better while Distress (bad stress) weakens us which could eventually lead to various health-related conditions.

Stress affects four areas of our lives – physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral areas. When you are stressed, you would notice that you have palpitations, you become irritable and restless, you have dyspepsia.

So how do we deal with this? Here are some stress management steps to keep fatigue at bay:

1. Be aware of the early signs and symptoms of stress. Are you becoming irritable? Do you suffer from diarrhea? Are you experiencing feelings of guilt, anger, anxiety or depression? Are you becoming hyperacidic? Alone, these symptoms could be indicative of other medical conditions. Together, however, they could be indicative of stress. 2. Stay away from stressors. Avoid over committing and learn the art of delegation. Keep in mind that you can only do so much. Let other people handle things that are beyond your skills. Learn to say “no”. Oftentimes, we are ashamed to say “no” that we often find ourselves overworked.

3. Time Management. Learn to balance your time among family, work, leisure and friends.

4. Learn to relax your mind and body. Set aside some time for yourself. Sleep at least 7 to 8 hours a day. Try aromatherapy to soothe your mind.

5. Exercise regularly and eat nutritious food.

6. Allow yourself to have some fun. Oftentimes, we are too caught up with our work that we forget to have time for some fun. Laugh more to release stress.

7. Find someone who can give you support and then share your feelings with him or her. This creates a catharsis for all your pent-up emotions.

One way to relieve stress is aromatherapy. Aromatherapy spa products relieve stress by using relaxation agents in their oils, candles and ever body candles. These relaxation products can be just want you need to for your body to relax and refresh.

Picture this: you’re in front of your computer. You are currently working on the financial statement your boss badly needs for his meeting in about two hours. You are about 80% through verifying all the numbers when suddenly…power shortage!

If you are the Dalai Lama, you would be able to handle this with a deep sense of serenity and calmness. Unfortunately, your not. Situations like these can lead to stress. Soon you’d have a headache, hypertension, anxiety and irritability. So what do you do?

  1. When you start feeling stressed out, shut off outside noise by turning to white noise. Examples of white noise are relaxing music as well as the sound of flowing water.
  2. Make use of essential oils. You can either have a few drops of them in your bath or on your handkerchief. You can also use them with a diffuser.
  3. Indulge in some hand and foot massage. Many eastern medicine advocates believe that the soles of the foot correspond to a specific area in your body. A good for massage can, therefore, help ease muscle pains associated with stress.
  4. Learn to delegate. Superwoman you ain’t so if you feel like you have bitten off more than you can chew, delegate. There will always be people who would be willing to help you.
  5. Talk. Sometimes having someone to listen to your rants can provide you with a sense of catharsis so don’t bottle things up inside you.

The changes in technology has brought before us both good and bad effects. Although it has made doing transactions pretty much easier and faster, it has also contributed to more and more people feeling the stress of living in a fast-paced environment. If you are among those people, here are some ways by which you can relieve stress:

  1. Stressed out by work? Stand up and take short trip to the next department. If you can, offer to run errands for your colleagues. This would take your mind off of your work and let you breathe some fresh air.
  2. Relaxing music is one good way to relieve stress. This could be any classical or jazz music or just about any slow tune that you have. Make sure, however, that you do not play this too loud.
  3. Have some essential oils within your reach. If this is not possible, make sure that you put at a drop or two of your favorite essential oil to your handkerchief. You can then take this out every now and then for a smell.
  4. At the end of the day, take extra time for a hot bath or a massage. This would help ease any stress you have accumulated the whole day. If you do not have time for this, at least set aside a day in a month where you can have a spa treatment.
  5. Reading a good book before you doze off is also a way to relieve stress. You can even do this while having your favorite aromatherapy candle lighted.

There are more than a hundred ways by which you can relieve stress. The most important thing, however, is to make sure that you take everything in a stride.
