Smell Your Way to Relaxation

If the sense of smell is the key factor that enables us to taste food, wine and candy, it doesn’t make much sense to indulge in a box of chocolates when you’re having a bad day. In fact, the indulgence you crave is only being met with a fraction of what your master sense of smell could provide. Stop satisfying your desires half-heartedly and listen up to learn how to fully satisfy your need for delicious relaxation.
It’s best with a massage partner, so each person can deeply enjoy their 30 minutes of indulgence, however, relaxation can be found alone as well. Pull out your aromatherapy essential oils, remove the cap and take a whiff – mmmmm. Drizzle a bit on to your fingertips and rub your hands together to produce an aromatic heat that’s ready to sooth. Massage the oil into your skin, or your partner’s skin, with long strokes in slow motion, making sure to work the oils deep into the skin as you inhale slowly but deeply to enjoy the tranquil vibes of the massage.

What is Aromatherapy?

March 6, 2010

Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile liquid plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds from plants for the purpose of affecting a person’s mood or health. Scientific evidence is weak and preliminary but mildly encouraging for a limited number of claims.

Essential oils differ in chemical composition from other herbal products because the distillation process only recovers the lighter phytomolecules. For this reason essential oils are rich in monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, as well as other VOC substances. You can find essential oils in a myriad of aromatherapy products, including massage oil candles.

Engaging the Senses

As a professional masseuse, I am always after customer satisfaction. That is one thing that I value the most, when it comes to my work, so I make sure that I give a good service with every booking I get. I can give different types of massages. I practice Shiatsu mostly, but I also offer Swedish therapy, reflexology, and an aromatherapy massage, if that is what the customer wants.

Among my specialties, aromatherapy is the most popular service I give out. There is just this distressing factor with the massage oils and the lighted aromatherapy candles that I bring along that relaxes my clients even more. That is why I always stock up on my aromatherapy requirements such as aromatherapy candle, incense and oil varieties. I also play soft music while I work, so the customer is 100 percent happy.

Turning Back The Time

Ageing might be a natural body process but your age need not necessarily show through your skin. Here are some effective ways by which you can turn back the time and have a younger looking skin:

  1. There are a number of anti-ageing medicines made from natural herbs such as Ginseng, Rhodiola, and Maca. Extracts from these herbs act as a stress suppressant and an immune system booste.
  2. Practicing Yoga and meditation along with anti-stress aromatherapy candles can also help release stress, improve blood circulation, boost energy level, and boost the metabolic rate of the body.
  3. Regular aerobic exercise can also help tone muscles and thus prevent sagging skin. It is also a good way to develop a good heart and fight high blood pressure.
  4. Proper skin care is also a good way to ensure your youthful looks. By drinking lots of water, moisturizing, and ensuring that your skin is clean, you would be able to keep ageing at bay.
  5. Watching what you eat can also help keep your skin from ageing too fast.

In an ideal world, stress is something that we could either get away from or change. However, we do not live in an ideal world. In actuality, there are two types of stress – good stress, otherwise known as Eustress, and bad stress, or what we know as Distress. Although oftentimes used interchangeably, it really is the latter that requires more attention.

Stress is makes itself evident via changes in body function and health (backache, fatigue, frequent urination, breathing problems), changes in emotions and feelings (irritable, sad, worried, tense), changes in behaviour (always asleep or rarely goes to sleep, eats more than usual, eats less than usual, drinks alcohol, uses drugs), and changes in thought (feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, difficulty remembering things, difficulty concentrating).

One way of managing stress is through the use of aromatic candles. However, you cannot just get up and buy any kind of aromatic candle. You have to know which ones would be able to give you maximum help.   If you would like to alleviate stress resulting from anger or anxiety, you could try candles with scents of frankincense, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Neroli, Sandalwood, or Ylang-Ylang. Jasmine and Lavender can also be used to ease depression. Ylang-Ylang, Frankincense and jasmine can also help take away nervous exhaustion.

You have to keep in mind however, that stress should not be taken for granted. The best way to deal with it is to look at the real reason behind your stress. Aromatherapy only serves as a ‘first aid’.

Thanksgiving is literally just around the corner so you would be probably be busy right now doing all the needed preparations. Before you go about freaking out, here are some ways by which you can keep your sanity and cool while preparing for Thanksgiving:

  1. As a rule, go for 1.5 lbs. of turkey per person. This would help make sure that there’s plenty for everyone and yet you’d still have some for leftovers.
  2. Ask the people you have invited whether they are allergic to certain foods or whether they are on a special diet. They would really appreciate your asking.
  3. Make sure you have enough utensils, plates and glasses for all your guests. You would also need to make sure beforehand that you would be able to accommodate all the guests that you invited.
  4. Have some warm drinks on hand. This could help you buy time should your guests arrive way before you have finished making all the food preparations.
  5. To keep everyone in a light mood, put out some aromatic candles or have diffusers placed in strategic locations. Make sure you use Jasmine, Rose, Ylang-Ylang and Spearmint.

At the end of the festivities, make sure that you remove all the stress from your body by relaxing in a warm tub of water with a few drops of your favorite essential oils or have a relaxing massage before you doze off.
